Courtney Grow’s Summer Edit

Courtney Grow is no stranger to making DÔEN uniquely her own, having styled our lace-trimmed Iona Silk Short with an oversized leather jacket and taken our La Maddalena Gingham for a spin on the F train. “Dressing this time of year just doesn’t take itself too seriously,” she explains. “There’s freedom in the ease, and the best outfits always come from not trying too hard.”

Having recently put down roots in Brooklyn with her family, she’s currently navigating subway rides with littles, soft pretzel runs, and lemonade stand drive-bys—all while putting the finishing touches on their new brownstone, affectionately known as “Swan House.” Armed with samples from our Summer collection, we popped in for a few hours to check in with Courtney, who is a muse no matter the time of year, but really seems to shine during the months of June, July and August: “A flower pin, a beaded bag, some shell jewelry around my neck, wrist or ankle…a little personality never hurts an outfit if you ask me,” she says.

MELLOW YELLOW

“I loved the yellow tone of this tank; it feels even more fresh than the butter yellow everywhere right now. The whole look leans a little soft, so I added a black belt to ground it and nod to the fantastic contrast straps on the tank.”

LITHE IN LACE

“I love how soft and romantic this set is but with a texture that makes it more casual and wearable. I added the oversized blue flower for some interest—and to make it feel like me.”

A BACKYARD GARDEN PARTY

“This is technically a swimsuit, but the moment I laid eyes on it, I felt that it was begging to be worn with vintage Levi's."

GOING GINGHAM

“Red gingham will never not spark a little summer joy for me. This dress is easy to wear but still makes me feel pulled together, even when I’ve been climbed like a tree [by my littles] all afternoon.”

SHE SELLS SEA SHELLS

“There’s something very “found” about a scarf dress, and the fabric is incredibly luxe and light, like you’re already two days into vacation.”
