Season's Shift

As summer ever so slowly draws to a close and the first hints of autumn glimmer on the horizon—an ever-so-subtle shortening of the days, a change in the quality of light—we’re relishing the fleeting magic of this richest and most precious time of year. A time to harvest and to savor, this short but bountiful bridge between seasons overflows with delights to relish in - see below for a few of our favorites.

Lingering Wanderlust

Though Summer may be drawing to a reluctant close, we are still very much under the spell of wanderlust. Below, a few films and books that are transporting us to faraway lands as we both continue to indulge the sensory pleasure of summer, and slowly start to settle in for autumn ahead.

Tales of the Four Seasons by Éric Rohmer

A quartet of visually-stunning films by French New Wave director Éric Rohmer, imbued with his signature sense of wonder and touching upon his career-long theme: the folly of the human heart.

The Taste of Things

An absolutely delectable film that speaks to and inspires every sense.

My Brilliant Friend

Elena Ferrante’s beloved novel, a tale that speaks so beautifully to the joys and heartbreak of shifting seasons.

Devotions

One of Mary Oliver’s most cherished collections of poetry, equal parts expansive and contemplative - a perfect complement to a season of dualities and change.

Dressing the Part

The art of dressing through seasonal transition is often hard to master. Below, a few bits of inspiration from our Pre-Fall styling.

Wolford’s Sheer Socks

We adore these sheer black socks to pair with denim and ballet flats, or to wear as a statement with a short skirt. A light layer that nods towards the shift in season, without being unseasonably warm.

Texture Play

The pairing of cashmere and light, buttery silk feels like a playful yet practical formula so perfectly suited to this in-between season. We love the combination of our Hyeres Sweater or Danae Cardigan with the Iona Short, Elowena Skirt, or Arwen Skirt as the ultimate transitional uniform.

A Barn Jacket

The Pascual Jacket has quickly become a staple in our closets, worn over the shoulders with almost any outfit from a pair of shorts and a tee, to a silk dress - equally effortless in either, or any, instance.
