Pre-Fall Scrapbook

Notes from Italy

Our Pre-Fall campaign took shape over the course of a few days spent roadtripping through Italy’s northernmost reaches—wandering amongst the olive trees that line Lake Garda and along Venice’s winding canals. See below for a few notes and bits of inspiration from our travels.

LACE-LINED SILVER TRAYS

A simple, romantic touch that captured our hearts in Venice. Back home, you can find vintage tray liners on Etsy or Ebay, and measure to fit your serving tray.

HANDMADE PASTA

Though making pasta is something of an art in Italy, it is a simple and rewarding process to undertake on your own. We love to host pasta-making nights with friends and join forces to hand shape each and every piece—shell-shaped cavatelli are a particular favorite, and fun for kids, too. We covet these olive wood boards, made with ridges for shaping cavatelli or gnocchi.

FARINATA DI CECI

A traditional dish of the northwestern Mediterranean, farinata is a simple savory pancake—we love to make at home and serve with seasonal vegetables. Chickpea flour and water are whisked into a thin batter and peppered with rosemary, and then poured into a cast iron pan and baked to a golden crisp in the oven. Delightfully savory, crunchy, and satisfyingly simple.
