In Her Shoes: City Guides with Friends

Lizzy Hadfield, Lala Olsson, and Amalie Reedtz-Thot wear pieces from our Fall collections.

We’ve always found inspiration in how our community wears their DÔEN pieces out and about—putting unexpected twists on classics and mixing textures, like embossed faux croc with denim or wool check.

As we settle into the official start of Fall, we reached out to friends in our favorite cities—including our hometown of LA. Read on for their tried-and-true spots to eat, drink, and wander on the weekend.

Copenhagen

Biking through cobblestone streets with Amalie Reedtz-Thott in the Callie Mule.

“I bicycle everywhere—the weather can’t stop me! Being outside is essential for me. I’ll go on long walks surrounded by nature in green areas to clear my head and get in sync with the season. It’s incredibly grounding and calming. To eat, I love a small, cozy restaurant. Sankt Annæ is my favorite—I’ll go here for their lemonade, olives, and bread. For a cup of something warm, I love an oat milk Chai at my local coffee bar, Les Amis.

LONDON

A coffee and croissant with Lizzy Hadfield in the Riviera Boot.

“I love Jolene—they have an ever-changing menu of sandwiches and you can’t go wrong with their classic butter croissant. Auld Shillelagh is one of my favorite pubs—the best Guinness pour in East London. A must-try for dinner is Morchella—the food is truly amazing. Dare I say the bread with brown butter is my favorite?!

For autumn in London, I love a gallery visit. The National Portrait Gallery is not overwhelming but has an incredible permanent collection and brilliant rotating exhibitions.”

Paris

An early morning stroll through St. Germain with Lala Olsson in the Tabitha T-Strap Heel.

“I love to wake up early, stop by Café de Flore for an espresso, and then head for a walk around St. Germain, where it’s early enough I get the city to myself. I’ll pop into Red Wheelbarrow Bookstore for a browse, a nostalgic and cozy bookshop nearby. Across the Seine, I love Musée des Art Décoratifs for trendy exhibitions on all things fashion and design, and Palace Callas for shopping curated vintage.”

New York

A wander through Dumbo with Mimi Nguyen in the Tabitha T-Strap Heel.

“On weekends, I’ll often find myself strolling through Dumbo. Taking in the view of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges, walking through quiet brownstone-lined streets, and being by the water is all just so relaxing. I’ll stop at Hudson Wilder, a design studio, concept shop, and cafe, to catch up with the owners and find inspiration—this weekend, they hosted a wine tasting that I went to with my husband.

To sip and snack, Fontainhas is a new chai cafe and Usagi New York has great matcha and Japanese snacks. Brooklyn Flea is open every weekend, and there are small art studios and concept shops you can pop into to find inspiration or a fun piece for your home.”

Los Angeles

Exploring Los Feliz with Skye Bennike in the Riviera Boot.

“Not only does Skylight Books have such a fun arrangement of books, but I’ll peruse their staff picks when I don’t know what to read next. I’ll pop over to Figaro Bistrot after—it’s a chic little French cafe that truly makes you feel as if you’re in Paris. You can sit at a table on the sidewalk and people watch as you enjoy your drink of choice.

Saint-Raf Bagels is a hidden gem in Northeast LA. I almost did not want to give this place up. They have the yummiest white fish bagel. Gloria’s Cuisine LA is the best brunch —order the Plantain Breakfast and Churro Waffle.

If you find yourself in Chinatown, do yourself a favor and go to Pho 87, my favorite spot for authentic Vietnamese. For a night out, Bar Flores is my go-to for drinks with my gals. The Mezcal Margarita is so delicious—the corn salt rim is out of this world—and the staff is so lovely. Pro tip: don’t go after a Dodgers Game (it gets packed).”
